It’s been said to be the most important meal of the day. If you’re anything like me then you LOVE breakfast foods. I have been known to occasionally enjoy the breakfast for dinner option at home, because breakfast foods just rock!
So if you’re living in the city of Millcreek, which can be found adjacent to Salt Lake City, then you’re in luck because there are so many great spots to grab breakfast! One of the best locations has been around for over 20 years and still has a dedicated clientele that can see lines out the door on a Sunday morning. Here are some of the best restaurants for breakfast in Millcreek!
Eggs In The City (2795 South 2300 East)
I’m starting with what I think is the best spot for breakfast in Millcreek. Yes, this is a biased post, but you’re also on my website reading about this so you’re going to get my favorite. Also, I don’t like making you wait until the end for what I think is one of the best places to get your breakfast.
Really, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The biscuits and gravy will fill you up for a week! Two biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs your way, and breakfast potatoes? You may just be having breakfast for dinner too!! One of my absolute favorites though is the breakfast sandwich. It’s a classic and Eggs In The City does it right. They don’t get crazy and try to make it all fancy. Just eggs on a croissant, your choice of cheese, your choice of meat (the bacon is always crispy and delicious), and grab that side of breakfast potatoes! Perhaps I should be ordering different items off their menu, but when you know what you like and they do it so well, why mess up a good thing?

Roots Cafe (3474 South 2300 East)
Ok pancake lovers this is your spot! The buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup (we’re talking REAL maple syrup) is pretty amazing. They offer a seasonal pancake with their buttermilk base that will fill your tummy. One of my other favorite breakfast menu items is a simple eggs, hash browns, sausage or bacon, and toast. Roots does a fantastic job at such a simple order. Sometimes the easiest items to make come out the worst, but not at Roots!

Millcreek Cafe and Eggworks (3084 East 3300 South)
I still remember when Millcreek Cafe and Eggworks opened in Millcreek. My office was located just down the street and we were so happy to have a new restaurant in the area. Fast-forward several years and Millcreek Cafe still offers the same delicious food as when they opened. It’s almost nostalgic for me to go there since we had so many fun breakfast meetings with colleagues.
At Millcreek Cafe you have so many great choices for breakfast! From a veggie breakfast wrap to their various eggs benedicts, plus a variety of low-calorie/healthier breakfast items. If you’re looking for a place that has excellent lite options for breakfast then you might enjoy their quinoa bowls with egg, avocado, tomatoes and an tasty pesto sauce.

Over the Counter Cafe (2343 East 3300 South)
I have to admit it takes a lot of self-control for me to not be at Over the Counter (or OTC as some of us refer to it) on a daily basis. I could literally walk there. It becomes a challenge on those mornings when I am hungry and don’t want to make my own breakfast. Over the Counter is your classic diner/greasy spoon. Many, many years ago Over the Counter only accepted cash! You really had to be in the know if you went there for breakfast because you had to make sure you had cash on hand.
I’ve been going to Over the Counter for over 20 years now and it never disappoints. Fantastic eggs, bacon, and make sure you get a short-stack of pancakes for the middle of the table for everyone to split and enjoy. You can even sit at the counter if you’re solo, or only two of you, and watch them cook up your eggs right in front of you. Be aware though! Over the Counter is a very busy restaurant on Sunday mornings. You’ll see a good wait of people outside the diner as patrons are eager to sit down for breakfast.

Lazy Day Cafe (2020 East 3300 South)
Ok, so if I’m biased about Eggs In The City then I’m really biased about Lazy Day Cafe. Opened by friends of mine years ago after their catering business started to expand. I might add that I hired them to cater all of the concerts I would produce in Salt Lake City (read my bio if you’re confused). I have two words for Lazy Day Cafe: LEMON PANCAKES. That’s it…that’s all you need to know. The staff is super friendly and the food is so good.
Lazy Day Cafe also offers several vegan options for those who have certain dietary needs. From vegan biscuits and gravy to a vegan benedict, you really can’t go wrong at Lazy Day Cafe. Oh and don’t forget this is one of the places in Utah you can actually get grits. Just a note for those who might have moved here from the South.

Beaumont Bakery & Cafe (3979 Wasatch Blvd.)
Who doesn’t love a great croissant? The story of Beaumont Bakery starts with the croissant as it’s founders and owners were looking for a place in Utah with fresh, high-quality French pastries. There weren’t many options so they decided to open their own restaurant, and I’m sure glad they did!
If you’re into the avocado toast trend then look no further than Cafe B. It’s a favorite of Millcreek residents. But remember croissants? How about croissant loaf french toast? It’s like French on French on French!! Topped with powdered sugar, bruleed bananas (like, what? OMG), mixed berries, and served with buttermilk maple syrup. Beaumont Bakery & Cafe is the place to go for some of the best pastries in Millcreek!

Honorable Mentions
While these two restaurants are not located in Millcreek, they are Millcreek-adjacent. Plus, they are fantastic restaurants to grab breakfast, but be warned they are as busy as many of the restaurants in Millcreek.
The Park Cafe (604 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City)
The Park Cafe sits across 1300 South from Liberty Park and is busy every day of the week. What I love about The Park Cafe is how fast the food comes to you! It’s like they already knew my order when I walked in the door. By the way, my favorite menu item is the Fieldgoal – scrambled eggs with bacon, breakfast potatoes, and your choice of toast/bread. Warning! They love their breakfast potatoes so if you don’t want 3/4 of a plate of potatoes then ask them to go easy. You get so much food and it’s so inexpensive!! You might walk out of their thinking you ripped them off!

Sharon’s Cafe (2263 East Murray Holladay Road, Holladay)
Remember when I was telling you about Over the Counter? Well, Sharon’s was started by the same people and you’ll get a fantastic breakfast with some of the friendliest servers in town. Sharon’s is also a bit of an icon having been located in the same location for 20+ years.
Down home breakfast options that leave you satisfied. Sharon’s is a great place to go during the weekday as they aren’t as busy. Usually Sunday mornings are busier and you may experience a short wait. They have a great patio during the warmer months to enjoy a fantastic breakfast al fresco!
Sharon’s doesn’t have a website, but you can find them on Facebook.
