Homes for Sale in Magna

Magna was settled early on when Mormon pioneers began appearing in the area in 1851. Coon Canyon and Coon Creek, which flows into the Great Salt Lake, were named after farmer Abraham Coon who established a livestock ranch in the early 1900s. Magna is mostly known for the Copper mines which were started in the early 1900s as Utah Copper Company by D.C. Jackling. Today Utah Copper Company is known as Kennecot Copper Corp. Jackling constructed his Magna Mill choosing the word Magna from Latin meaning “great” or “superior”. 

Filmmakers have flocked to Magna’s main street including the Disney corporation using the historic street for films including scenes from Disney’s Halloweentown. Disney’s Andi Mack used Magna as a central shooting location and even had “The Spoon” diner created specifically for the show. Magna continues to have growth and development with the redevelopment of old mining land. Kennecot Land has plans for major development West of the township.
