Is Millcreek really the heart of it all along the Wasatch Front? This bustling suburb of Salt Lake City offers easy access to nearly everywhere in the valley and a multitude of outdoor activities. It is a long-time community filled with professionals, retirees, young families, and outdoor minded residents.
Millcreek is one of the newest cities having only recently incorporated in December of 2016. The city offers an exceptional amount of hiking trails with many being dog friendly, established neighborhoods, effortless freeway access, and is only minutes from Downtown Salt Lake City.

Downtown Millcreek
Millcreek recently began steps toward their new Downtown and City Hall. Located on the corner of 3300 South and 1300 East, the new city center will become a focal point for the community. This central block will house Millcreek’s City Hall, various retail outlets, and have an outdoor skating rink during the winter.
This section of Millcreek is a busy place where several businesses are located and is a thoroughfare to freeway access. 3300 South is the main street which runs from the foothills in the East to the Jordan River Parkway in the West. It is a wide two-lane state road dotted with restaurants, home improvement stores, and ski shops.
Many tourists and locals alike head to the ski shops in East Millcreek to pick up discounted ski passes or check out the years latest gear. This part of Millcreek can become very busy on the weekends due to a state of the art climbing gym.
Millcreek is home to several parks and green spaces. During warmer months you’ll often see residents biking along the streets to their favorite restaurants or headed out to nearby trails in Millcreek Canyon.
East Millcreek
East Millcreek is a very active outdoor community that runs from I-215 on the East to Highland Boulevard on the West.
The main thoroughfares, 3300 South; 3900 South, and Highland Drive form its borders. 3300 South is dotted with world class ski and snowboard shops, and local restaurants. The bustling REI is located at the top of 33rd South just before I-215.
The Mill Creek runs through this neighborhood. The Millcreek Center Library sits adjacent to Evergreen Park in the middle of this district.
Most homes in Millcreek are post-World War II rambler/ranch style homes and condos. Some luxury homes are available and placed on parcels where the original home was demolished. This is a highly desirable area of Salt Lake County and most house hunters will find tough competition for the few homes that are for sale.

Canyon Rim
Canyon Rim stretches from the Northside of 3300 South to its border at I-80 and West to Highland Dr. Parleys Historic Nature Park, an off-leash dog hiking trail, and Canyon Rim Park are two of the highlights of living in the Canyon Rim neighborhood.
This neighborhood in Millcreek has access to the paved Parley’s Trail that connects the mouth of Parley’s Canyon to Sugarhouse and South Salt Lake. While technically part of Salt Lake City proper, Parley’s Trail access is on the Northern side of Canyon Rim.
The popular Eggs In The City restaurant, and plant store Cactus & Tropical’s are located in this neighborhood. Easy off-ramp access coming from Westbound I-80 allows for fast commuting around the valley.
A few homes overlook Parleys Historic Nature Park on the North end of this district. Many homes are single-family, although some duplexes and condos can be found in Canyon Rim. Lot sizes may vary in Canyon Rim with the typical lot being roughly .20 acres.
Mount Olympus
Mount Olympus, or Olympus Cove (also known as “The Cove”), is an upscale neighborhood of Millcreek located East of I-215 on the northwestern slopes of Mount Olympus of the Wasatch Front. This section of Millcreek holds the entrance to Millcreek Canyon, a Salt Lake County Park in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service. There are several picnic areas and hiking trails located in Millcreek Canyon.
Some expensive real estate is in this part of Millcreek. Luxury homes have amazing views of the Salt Lake Valley, with expansive decks and can contain smaller yards since these homes are built along the foothills of Mount Olympus. Luxury homes with larger yards can be found South in the Holladay and Cottonwood Heights cities of Salt Lake County.
Millcreek Real Estate
Home prices in Millcreek are higher than the Salt Lake County average. The closer a home is to the foothills of the Wasatch Front, the more expensive the home. This part of Salt Lake County does not see many homes for sale due to older residents being unlikely to move from this area. Many homes are less than 2,000 square feet and are predominantly Rambler/Ranch style homes. The mature trees and well-established homes make Millcreek attractive to many Salt Lake County residents.
If you’re looking to update a home, Millcreek is a great potential city for you to look at. Many of the homes were built in the 1950s or earlier and need cosmetic updates. Homes that have been fully remodeled, or the homes have been demolished to make way for newer construction. Finding land to build will be next to impossible due to the established homes and businesses in this community.
