I’m ashamed to admit this.

Living in Utah for over 20 years and this was the first time I vacationed in Moab. Now, to be fair, or maybe to just excuse my laziness, I had been told that Moab is really for Jeepin’. As a Jeep owner that does sound fun, but I made excuses to not travel down to Moab.

It was a fantastic trip with over 30 miles of hiking in 3 days. 🥾🥾

I can’t believe it took me this long to get to Arches National Park and Canyonlands.

We started the trip in Arches to see Delicate Arch and as much of the park as possible.

Our hike started in the dark at about 6:30am.

I was asked over a text message why we started so early. “You’re on vacation! Sleep in.”

About 20 people were at Delicate Arch with us when we arrived just after 7am. ☀️

And that is the reason we got up so early to make it for sunrise hikes. The solitude of nature and watching the sunrise. Everyone there was respectful too. Hushed voices and nobody really going under the arch for their personal photos.

We all just sat in relative silence as the sun rose and Delicate Arch became more visible.

I’m upset at myself for taking over 20 years to make it to Moab, and the National Parks.

I’m thrilled I was able to witness the sunrise over the La Sal mountains and Delicate Arch. I can’t wait to go back to Moab, and of course, I’m planning on purchasing a house down there too. 😂
