It was a story that was told all of the time growing up.
My dad, the oldest of 3 brothers, was required to pain the house by his dad. The way the story was told, it sounded like he had to paint the house once a year! 🖌️
So, when we bought this house and hated the color from the very beginning, I was told, “just paint the house”. Turns out, it took 8 years to get to this project and it has been way more difficult than I ever expected.

I’ve gained hours and hours of interior painting experience. I’ve painted well over 10,000 square feet of interior space, which may not seem like a lot, but it is!
I have never attempted such a large task as the exterior of my home. Now, the majority of the house is painted. I still have some to do on the back and sides. However, the sides require some scaffolding that I need to rent because it is pretty high up there!
I also noticed a few spots that will get touched up on another day. (update: they got touched up and look great!)
On principle, and because of the stories I was inundated with growing up, I had to paint the house myself. I could not hire someone to do this job.
Of course, now that I have done it once, I will gladly pay someone to paint for me the next time. 😰
